The Memorial will form a catalyst for an on-going fundraising campaign to support military and equine charities after all memorial costs are paid. Our principal beneficiaries will be The Household Cavalry Foundation and the Mane Chance Sanctuary. Other complementary charities will also be supported.
Our aim
The War Horse Memorial is a permanent tribute dedicated to the millions of UK, Allied and Commonwealth horses, donkeys and mules lost, and the immeasurable contribution they made, during The Great War of 1914-18.
The War Horse Memorial will be sited in Ascot and gifted to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, who have agreed take formal responsibility for future maintenance. A nearby Portland stone monolith with embedded augmented technology – comprising computer generated sensory input – will expand on the important educational element of the project.

We have formed several partnerships and alliances with various organisations including The Household Cavalry, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and Ascot Racecourse. And we are delighted to announce that the Daily Express is our national media partner. We also hope to work with The Royal British Legion, the Imperial War Museum and others in the future to form strategic partnerships to extend the scope and reach of the project.
