Poppy!

The War Horse Memorial (TWHM) entrusted the Guides, Brownies and Rainbows to name our War Horse in a national competition organised by Girlguiding – the leading UK charity for girls and young women.

Almost 100 packs from across Britain took part, and we are delighted to announce that the clear favourite is POPPY.

Pictured here are the judges ( from left to right): Alan Carr MBE, co-founder TWHM; Julie Bentley, Chief Executive of Girlguiding UK; Sophie Christiansen CBE, Paralympic gold medal winner and Ambassador for TWHM; Hugh Whittow, former editor, The Daily Express and Susan Osborne co-founder TWHM.

So, Poppy it is. The judges were impressed with the thoughtful ways the girls had made their choices, and their understanding of the service and sacrifice given by millions of horses, mules and donkeys in WW1. The chosen pack who will be invited to the memorial unveiling on June 8, 2018 will be announced soon.
