People of the Highlands Say Fond Farewell.

The people of Inverness did us proud on Saturday (April 28, 2018) when they turned out in force to say goodbye to Poppy and celebrate the work of sculptor Susan Leyland and the Black Isle Bronze team. Over the course of the day more than 1,000 people took the opportunity to get up close and personal with our magnificent War Horse. Piper Gary McKay of the Black Watch (pictured below) signalled her arrival into Falcon Square, and shoppers and well wishers stopped to take photos and ask questions about the significance of the project. We told them how proud we were that she had been Made in Scotland and that this would be the last time Poppy would be seen in public before the unveiling on June 8, 2018 in Ascot. Later we were joined by the Royal British Legion Pipe Band of Inverness who helped us celebrate the occasion in true Scottish style. Our grateful thanks to the people of the Highlands for a memorable time and for making us so welcome.
