480 640 The War Horse Memorial

Journey complete.

Poppy our War Horse has made the long journey south from Scotland and is now safely installed in her new home in Ascot.

Teams from the Black Isle Bronze, in Nairn and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead carefully lifted her onto her stone plinth and secured her in place. She will be covered for the next five weeks while work continues on the groundworks, on the plinth itself and on the adjacent Area of Reflection. The next time we will see her again will be at the official unveiling on Friday, June 8, 2018 at 11am. More news on that to follow. Our next two big events will be on Sunday, May 13 when we will proudly attend the Cavalry Parade in Hyde Park, and the following day (Monday, May 14) when we present the third of our four horseshoes to the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Nuala McAllister at Belfast City Hall.
